A gastronomic cult disguised as a bar
Tucked behind closed doors in Dubai, SOBREMESA blends Spanish ritual with Mexican soul — a secret space for those who know how to look. Liquid Design created the brand from scratch: concept, iconography, storytelling, brand book, and every physical detail down to the tequila shot glasses. This is food as language. Symbols instead of slogans. Every element a clue.
A visual system with something to say We built SOBREMESA around a custom icon set: a working cipher inspired by the Spanish alphabet and reimagined as a mystical code. Some spell things out. Others don’t. The encrypted logo has a twin, visible only to those who’ve cracked the pattern. Menus, coasters and tableware carry the code into the real world. Each piece feels elegant, symbolic, and just cryptic enough to spark a second look.
Built to be decoded This isn’t a place that spells things out. It lets you figure it out. The brand unfolds through custom pieces designed to be handled, puzzled over and passed around — Jenga sets, metaphor cards, matchbooks. Tequila, tacos and a community of like-minded souls make up the ritual. Everything’s a conversation starter. Even the silence.
Not open yet. Already whispered about. Dreamt up by Daniil Chakmin and Hekim Setdarov, SOBREMESA opens soon in Dubai — a slow-burn sanctuary for the city’s cultural expats. The ones who stay late, drink well, and know not everything needs to be posted. We designed SOBREMESA to feel like it’s always existed. You just had to know where to look. And yes, once the doors open, you’ll be hearing about it from every Dyson in town.
